Now that Spring has officially sprung, I took the time to go through my closets and let go of things that I haven't used in a while or things that have seen better days. I filled up three large shopping bags to donate later that week. Of course I found that the week flew by and those three shopping bags continued to sit by our front door. Finally on Monday morning, it wasn't raining and I had some time to walk them over to the store.
I felt that they were heavy, but thought I could manage the walk for two and a half blocks. It's interesting that I not only felt strain in my hands and forearms, but also all throughout my shoulders! I took a few breaks to give my body some relief, but still noticed that I got pretty annoyed that I didn't just take a cab and save my body from the discomfort.
Once I dropped the bags off, everything changed, and I mean E-VRY-THNG! I felt a bounce in my step, my body was gliding through the sunny streets of Manhattan, and the discomfort in my shoulders was gone! Of course, my mind instantly went to, "What does this mean and how can this help my clients?"
My body was under STRESS carrying the bags, but as soon as I let them go, I also let go of the stress I had created. Novel concept, huh? This also applies to you, my friend. When you let go of what no longer serves you, your body feels lighter. We are meant to live, not meant to be held down by the stress and worry we put on ourselves and eventually our bodies. If any of this rings true to you, take some time to see what stresses you are putting on yourself and if they are helping you or hurting you. Or just clean out your closet, I'm sure you'll feel better afterwords! :)
