The sun is shining and as soon as mother nature decides to stop being a woman and make up her mind, I'm sure the weather will follow! In the 5th chakra we purified our body through sound. Today our journey continues on the path of clarity to seek the light of consciousness. I invite you to take a deeper look at the self and see things you may have overlooked in the past. Check out previous chakras and other newsletters on the blog.
Chakra 6: Seeing the Way
The sixth chakra is all about intuition, clarity, vision, and imagination. It is often called the "third eye", an etheric organ of consciousness that lies directly behind and between your two physical eyes. The seed sound is OM and the color is indigo. The element is light and the chakra is connected to the physical eyes and the area around and between. This includes the pineal gland which acts as a light meter for the body. Over 100 bodily functions have daily rhythms that are influenced by light, including serotonin and melatonin which affect mood, appetite, and sleep.

Practices: Since the third eye is literally in the head, it is not really accessed through physical movement. Use the following exercises as imagery or meditation to look deep inside yourself. There may be a block in your life that is holding you back from your true potential. If meditation is challenging for you, you might find that after physical exercise your mind is more clear and a good time to try.
Yogic Eye Exercise:
This is an exercise for strengthening and centering the physical eyes; it is also good for eyestrain, vision improvement, and general fatigue from doing a lot of paperwork or heavy reading.
Begin in a seated meditation position with your spine straight. Close your eyes and bathe them in the darkness. Bring your awareness to the point between your eyes, in the center of your head. Feel the darkness there, and let yourself bask in its quiet calm.
When you feel centered, open your eyes and gaze straight ahead. Without moving your head, slowly turn your gaze upward. Then let your gaze follow a straight life downward, gazing as low as your vision can reach without moving your head. Repeat the movement upward and then downward again, and then return your eyes to center and close them, returning to the darkness.
Repeat again, moving from far right to far left, returning to darkness after two times. The final time, after centering your eyes, make half circles, first on the top, then on the bottom, and finish by rolling your eyes "around the clock," making a complete rotation, stretching your gaze as far as it can go. Do this clockwise and counterclockwise.
Close your eyes agin. Rub your palms together briskly until you feel your hands become warm. When the heat feels sufficient, place your warmed palms over your eyelids and let your eyes back in the warmth and darkness. As the heat dissipates, slowly stroke your eyelids, massaging your forehead and face. From here you can either go into a deeper meditation or return to the outside world.
Manifest a Breakthrough:
Close your eyes and imagine the possibility of some kind of breakthrough in your life. It may be a personal breakthrough or it may be something related to the larger world. Imagine the effect your possibility would have on each of your chakras - feeling it in your throat, your heart, your belly, your sensations, and grounding it into the very cells of your body. Do this on a daily basis - running it from the top down - and see what actions you can engage in that will help this vision come into manifestation.
Reality Check:
Make a point to check out your dreams and self-images with friends. Find out if you really do seem to be as loud, quiet, fat, thin, selfish, unselfish, bright, or stupid as you think you are. Find out if you are chasing after ego, reaching for false props to happiness, or fooling yourself about important issues. Build your personal accounts on reality checks and you will function with an abundance of truth.
