I had a conversation with one of my clients about his squatting and correct form last week. I have seen a lot of variations but many of them are bringing people closer to injury. I find that many people will sacrifice their form in order to "get lower" or do what the other people at the gym are doing.
June was the month of travel me and my husband. I spent every weekend on a plane, in a car, or on a train. Each destination was beautiful and full of family, friends, and sunshine! That was the upside. On the downside, I was feeling all sorts of discomfort from sitting more than my body is used to.
Lately I have become very aware of the bags that people carry around the city. I know as a New Yorker, sometimes you leave your apartment in the morning and don't get home until late in the evening. You wind up carrying lots of extra things around with you simply because you don't have time to go home in between all of your engagements.
More times than not, my birthday falls on Mother's Day and this year I am celebrating 31 beautiful years of life, love, and learning! That being said, this newsletter is useful for everyone, but dedicated to all the mothers out there for being amazing! So, what do moms do a lot whether they are staying at home or in the office?
I was talking to my mother the other day and she was telling me all about how she walks on her lunch hour at work and then again at night with my father before dinner. She mentioned that when she walks at work, she goes up the stairs, down the hallway and then up to the next floor until 30 minutes have passed.
Chakra 3 could not have come at a better time! It's all about setting an intention and exercising your will to accomplish it! January is over and as many of you know, this is the time when people may find that their initial goal for the new year was not so realistic.
It's that time of year when gyms and yoga studios are packed with New Years resolutioners who vow that this will be the year to lose 10 pounds. Maybe you are in great shape, but you want to make solid attempt at getting more organized or being on time. Whatever you have or have not decided, I'd like to offer that instead of thinking big, you go easy on yourself this year and do some small things that will actually stick.
Have you ever worked very diligently on something and seen the results in more places than the main goal? Take for instance changing the way you eat in order to lose weight. You have a goal to wear a smaller size. Along the way to that goal, you notice that not only are you looking better, but you are also feeling better too! I had a similar experience to the work I have been doing and it's simply amazing!
